Young star on the rise

WITH her unique vocals and a passion for music, Sheridan McCulloch is fast becoming one of Ipswich's rising stars.

The 19-year-old student recently released her debut EP, Gettin' Back Up.

"I started singing when I was about 12 and I decided to pursue it seriously last year," she said.

"We tried to make the EP full of positive songs with good messages.

"I'd describe them as country pop but, when I perform live, I do a range of styles like acoustic, folk and funk as well."

Talent runs in the young artist's family, with her father and grandfather both being Tamworth musicians.

"I have always been around music," she said.

"My biggest musical influence has been my dad. He's a bass player.

"I enjoy being able to express myself through song and bring joy to other people.

"Music is also a really great escape for me."
