Police charge man after Toowoomba stabbing

UPDATE: Detectives have charged a man after investigations into an alleged assault at a Wilsonton home last night.

It will be alleged about 7pm an altercation occurred at a Bridge St residence between a man and two women who were known to each other.

A 48-year-old Toowoomba woman received stab wounds to her face and neck and a 28-year-old Toowoomba woman also received head injuries.

 A 28-year-old Wilsonton man was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is expected to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow.

EARLIER 5PM: A man remains in police custody following an alleged brutal assault against two women last night.

The 28-year-old man was helping police with their investigations today but had not yet been charged.

One 24-year-old woman was bashed during the attack while the other 48-year-old woman suffered stab wounds to her face and neck.

The women were at their Wilsonton home when they were confronted by the man who was known to them.

A police spokeswoman said when officers arrived they found the 48-year-old woman outside the house holding towels to her face and neck.

"They observed a large laceration or open wound and she also had wounds to the neck," the spokeswoman said.

"The 24-year-old was located in the house. She had a large amount of swelling to the face and head area."

The spokeswoman said a 19-year-old male who lived at the house was also involved in the altercation but declined medical treatment.

The 28-year-old man initially fled the address but officers found him and took him into custody late that night.

 Both women were taken to Toowoomba Hospital after the incident.

The 48-year-old woman remains in the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition while the 28-year-old was transported to the Princess Alexandra hospital in a stable condition.

Police investigations are continuing.

EARLIER 8AM: TWO women have been taken to hospital with head injuries after an alleged assault in Toowoomba overnight.

A 28-year-old man is currently assisting detectives with their investigations after the incident at a Bridge St address in Wilsonton.

Police were called to the home about 7pm last night to reports a person had been stabbed.

The altercation was between the man and two women who were known to him.

The 48-year-old woman and 28-year-old woman, both from Toowoomba, were transported to Toowoomba Hospital.

Early reports suggest one was stabbed while the other had been bashed.
