UPDATE: Woman pronounced dead at Gympie crash scene

 

UPDATE: More tragedy in Gympie today with the driver of a car that crashed into a tree east of the city pronounced dead at the scene minutes ago.

The woman who is believed to be "older", possibly in her 60s, was pulled unconscious from the small hatchback she had been driving soon after midday after it careened down a hill on a private property at Veteran and into a stand of trees, hitting one of the trees head-on.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and have tried desperately ever since to revive her, performing CPR in the back of the ambulance and calling in the LifeFlight rescue chopper.

But sadly, shortly after 1.30pm they gave up their efforts and the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

The cause of the incident at Belvedere Rd, Veteran, is unknown at this stage.

EARLIER:

A WOMAN has been seriously injured in a car crash east of Gympie and is being airlifted.

The woman was pulled unconscious from the car near Veteran and was given CPR by emergency service workers for a period of time. Her injuries are believed to be very serious.

 

An eye witness said the car and taken off down a hill on a private property at Belvedere Rd at Veteran about midday and had crashed into one of several trees at the bottom of the hill.
