Winning builder starts on Maccas

FRESH from winning an award in the latest Master Builders' regional challenge, TP Turner managing director Robert Turner is about to embark on a new challenge.

His company will this week start building the new Ipswich McDonald's restaurant on Brisbane Street at the Top of Town.

This restaurant has been designed to complement the old Baptist church on the site, which will be turned into a community centre.

TP Turner's latest award - in the category “tourism and hospitality facilities up to $8 million”- is for the newly opened $3 million Queens Park Environmental Education Centre and Kiosk.

“We've had a few awards over the years, including for Trustee House, Brisbane Street,” Mr Turner said.

“We thought this (the environment centre) was a really nice building.

“The quality is there all the way through it.

“It's a wonderful setting. There was a big push to retain the trees.”

Master Builders' assessors said TP Turner Pty had done an outstanding job on this great community project.

Executive director Graham Cuthbert said the awards were a great way for builders to get public and industry recognition, especially in these strained economic times.

“The calibre of entrants in this year's awards was outstanding and resulted in only the best of the best being chosen,” he said.

Regional winners go on to be judged in the state finals.
