AUSTRALIA would enter the conflict if North Korea attacks the United States, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says.

Mr Turnbull said the ANZUS Treaty between Australia and the United States was very clear.

"Australia would come to the aid of the US as America would come to our aid if we were attacked," Mr Turnbull said this morning.

US President Donald Trump ratcheted up his rhetoric toward North Korea overnight, saying it should be "very, very nervous" if it even thinks about attacking the United States or its allies.
