WATCH: Strange blue light in sky seen by workers at airport

CAMERAS where out at Miami Airport as a glowing orb with matching giant shockwave flew across the sky above puzzled workers and travellers alike.

The object could be seen to move slowly with a tail blowing wide and then tapering back into a trail behind it.

"Check that out, woah, it's going to hit the plane," a man's voice can be heard in one recording, reports the Daily Mail

RELATED: 5 times UFOs were spotted in the sky

The video was originally shared on Liveleak but has hit social media hard.

Liveleak user RamJ called it an "invasion from space" while another user sagely guessed that it could be a "possible comet fragment with a high content of water and frozen gases".

The most likely explanation offered was that it was a rocket launch, possibly the June 24 Atlas V launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, though it is impossible to confirm without knowing when the video was shot.
