Was this band expelled from Splendour for nudity?

RUMOURS abounded all weekend but proof has emerged that a UK Indie rock band was allegedly expelled from Splendour in the Grass last Friday due to indecent exposure.

Fat White Family, the English rock band from South London, performed at the GW McLennan stage on Friday at 2.40pm.

Victorian James Young, owner of The Cherry Bar in Melbourne, confirmed the band's front man Lias Kaci Saoudi completed the second half of the set entirely nude.

"I love the band," Young said.

"I booked their two Melbourne sideshows at my two venues Yah Yah's and Cherry Bar, where they behaved like angels, by the way".

Music website themusic.com.au broke the news earlier today after speaking to Mr Young.

James Young confirmed to The Northern Star he witnessed NSW police officers escorting Saoudi after the show.

Young was trying to approach the band to introduce himself.

"I was in the backstage area and I wanted to pop my head in to their van to say 'hello'… and there were three cops standing in front of the lead singer and he had an ice pack against his broken nose. There was blood all over the floor," Young said.

Mr Young said he did not know how Saoudi broke his nose.

"It was the whole talk of the backstage area.

"I mean, there's lots of bands playing and things are very professionally run at Splendour.

"Pretty much everyone from the police, to the site organisers, to all the other bands wanted the (band) out of there, which is exactly what happened," Mr Young said to the website.

Splendour in the Grass organisers and the band have been contacted for comment.
