VIDEO: Man, 53, airlifted off tanker off Fraser Island

Bundaberg based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority to winch a patient from a tanker travelling off Fraser Island at 1:30pm Friday 8th July .

The patient was a 53 year old male, who was suffering from a suspected stroke and was in need of medical assistance.

A flight paramedic was lowered down to the main deck to secure and harness the patient, before they were both winched up into the helicopter.

The rescue helicopter then transported the patient to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition for further medical treatment.
