VIDEO: High-speed street racing in Toowoomba

AN ILLEGAL high-speed street race down a quiet Middle Ridge street has been captured on video.

The footage shows three cars racing down Jutsum St about 9.25pm last night, with two cars taking up both sides of the two-way street.

A concerned resident captured the footage after the three cars raced down the cul-de-sac before turning around and racing towards Ramsay St.

Jutsum St is a signed 50kmh zone.

The resident said while the street race was an isolated incident, they had concerns that any oncoming traffic would not have been able to stop if a car had been turning down the street.

"It was an isolated case - they raced up the street, stopped at the end and raced back down," the resident said.

"These cars would have been travelling at well over 100kmh.

"They were taking up the entire road also, so if another car had come up the street, there would have been the potential for a head-on collision.

"We could hear them racing down Ramsay St afterwards."

Jutsum St is home to a number of families with children and senior citizens.
