Darwin resident Dean Stocks reckons this is UFO the weirdest thing he's seen sober

He could not believe his eyes when he saw a potential UFO pop up on his computer screen while using Google Maps to search for an address in Tennant Creek.

Clicking on the Ambrose St location, and zooming in with Google Street View, his jaw nearly hit the ground

Hovering above the outback town is an object posing a remarkable similarity to a flying saucer. He said he hadn't decided if it was a sky boob or a bona fide UFO, but knew it was out of the ordinary.

"I don't believe I've seen a sky boob before but I've read about them in picture magazines," he said.

"I know all the conspirators will have their say - it will be a reflection of the Tennant Creek watertank or something like that."

He said it was one of the most phemonenal things he'd ever seen, even behind the computer in Darwin.

Mr Stocks said he travelled to Tennant Creek every few weeks and would be driving down Ambrose St to see if there was anything paranormal floating above the surface next time he was down there.

Darwin astronomer Geoff Carr said the image was likely photoshopped.

International alien group, Mutual UFO Network have developed a comprehensive database of UFO sightings around the world. The UFO Stalker map includes dates, times and details of the incident.

One Palmerston resident described a fireball-like object in the sky which hovered above her and then changed direction in June 2007. It gave off dull crackling noises and heat, her report stated.

A report in September 2015 detailed an incident in January 2014 by a storm chaser described seeing two flying objects flying near a storm cell.
