Two units damaged after man allegedly starts fire

A MAN has been charged after a fire destroyed a unit and damaged another yesterday afternoon at Margate.

It will be alleged the fire was started in a unit at the Baynes Street complex around 3.15pm with a man leaving the scene. The fire also caused damage to a neighbouring unit.

A 39-year-old Margate man has been charged with arson and endangering particular property by fire.

He is expected to appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
