TV opportunity calls for Kanofski

A CHANCE to show his wares on television has proved too good for Ipswich boxer Jason Kanofski to pass up.

Kanofski, while preparing for a fight against Trent Fellows at Maroochydore on August 15, was asked at late notice to fill a gap on Fox Sports' Jeff Fenech Fight Night tonight in Campbelltown.

While not wanting to jeopardise the Fellows fight, Kanofski agreed to fight under the right circumstances.

“Dad said if the opponent's right we'll take it,” Kanofski said, referring to Geoff, his father and trainer.

The opponent is Ben Costello and Kanofski will move up a weight division to fight him at the junior middleweight (or super welterweight) 69.85kg limit.

It is only a temporary move for Queensland welterweight champion Kanofski, who is enjoying being able to eat what he likes and still beat the scales.

“He's only had five fights but he's a strong sort of bloke,” Kanofski said of Costello.

“I'm confident with my experience I can outbox him.”

Kanofski has delayed a planned break from boxing to study and is still working towards his ultimate goal of a national title.
