Tradies earn $61 an hour

AUSSIE tradies are pocketing an average $61.65 an hour after increasing their hourly rate by 1.4% last financial year.

But it's not all good news for blue-collar workers with a report by showing 94% of tradespeople work weekends and 58% clock up more than 40 hours a week on the job.

Last financial year, plumbers earning about $80.92 an hour and electricians on $75.56 an hour were the highest paid tradies in the country.

Flooring specialists on $39.05 and painters earning $42.56 an hour were the lowest paid tradespeople.
