A CHILD who died after suffering traumatic injuries should never have been returned to his family after a hospital visit, Queensland's Opposition says.

Mason Jet Lee was found dead at a home in Caboolture on June 11.

He was known to child safety and it has been revealed today he had been admitted to hospital before his death.

Doctors reported the risk to child safety department and fully discharged him, with the Health Minister saying today his department fulfilled its responsibilities.

Opposition child safety spokeswoman Ros Bates fears the child safety department is hemorrhaging under pressure, and there will be another similar death.
