JOSHUA Hay has some simple pointers for tradespeople to stay healthy on the job.
Mr Hay, a Warwick physiotherapist with 10 years of experience, said lower back, shoulder and elbow injuries were common among his tradie patients.
"Given the physical nature of most trades, tradies can unfortunately be susceptible to a wide variety of injuries," he said. "Unfortunately, these injuries can be life-changing.
"For some tradies, the severity of injury can result in a complete change in vocation.
"This can often mean lengthy periods of re-training and a short-term reduction in pay."
Mr Hay urged tradespeople to stay on top of their health.
"The first, and most important thing, is not to ignore pain," he said.
"Pain is telling you there is a problem.
"As soon as you notice a problem, get along to a physio so they can assess and treat the problem as quickly as possible.
"The longer a problem is there, the harder it can be to get rid of."
