Why twins’ bus ‘ride’ shocked their parents
"LOOK, dad, we're on a bus."
Shocked parents Sue and Naibuka Sokovagone had to laugh when their eight-year-old twins, Livai and Tara, pointed to a Sunbus with their faces pictured on the side. Engrossed in a science experiment, the Kawana Waters State School Year 8 students were snapped for an advertising campaign promoting the school.
Mr Sokovagone said he and his wife were surprised to see the twins' faces on the bus.
They thought it was a joke when they were told initially.
"We were told by the school that the photos were going to be featured on the school magazine cover," Mr Sokovagone said.
"They (the twins) told us a month before that their photo would be on the bus, but we didn't believe them until we stopped right beside the bus at the traffic lights in Mooloolaba.
"The kids yelled, 'Hey Mum and Dad. Look! That's us on the bus'."
Kawana Waters State College principal Paul Williamson said the picture of the twins, among other students, had been chosen from more than 1000 photos.
