Ten renews fan favourite Offspring for 2016
FOLLOWING months of fan speculation, Channel 10 has confirmed its renewal of much-loved drama Offspring.
The quirky Melbourne-based series will return next year for a sixth season.
Gold Logie-winning star Asher Keddie and her on-screen sister Kat Stewart will return to the show, which follows the lives of the Proudman family and their friends and co-workers.
"It was no secret that we wanted to continue Nina's adventures and we are thrilled to announce that Offspring will return to Ten for a sixth season in 2016," Ten's Chief Programming Officer Beverley McGarvey said.
"There are so many more chapters left in Nina's life. We paused her story just as she had bravely navigated motherhood as a single parent rediscovering the joy and romance of life, while dealing with her fabulously messy family as they went about their unpredictable daily lives.
"The strength and appeal of Offspring lies in the ability of its producers and writers to marry conventional narrative drama with flashbacks and fantasy sequences. We can't wait to start production on the sixth season."
Producers and writers Imogen Banks and John Edwards will also return, having most recently produced upcoming romantic drama The Beautiful Lie for the ABC.
But creator Debra Oswald and writer Michael Lucas won't return to pen the new season.
