Teen charged over alleged carjacking at Sunshine Coast Aldi

POLICE have charged a 19-year-old Brisbane man with robbery and drink driving this morning, following an alleged carjacking at a Maroochydore supermarket on Monday.

Officers believe the teenager from Bracken Ridge snuck up to a woman who had parked her car at the Aldi on Aerodrome Rd and crouched down.

Police allege he opened her door and told the woman he was armed with a gun.

When she climbed out, police believe the man jumped into the driver's seat, then drove away via a side street.

Police discovered the car to Point Cartwright Drive near Kawana Shoppingworld, but the culprit had fled.

The teenager was arrested just before 10am on Monday, about an hour after the alleged confrontation.
