Taxi driver assaulted and robbed

POLICE are investigating after a taxi driver was assaulted and robbed in Brisbane early this morning.

Shortly after 1:00am three men caught a cab from Fortitude valley requesting to be driven to an address in Sinnamon Park.

The taxi driver reportedly stopped on Ann Street and asked the trio to exit the taxi after they changed their requested destination to Camira.

The man in the front passenger seat assaulted the taxi driver by punching him in the head.

The three men fled from the scene on foot.

During the incident the taxi driver's wallet, containing a sum of cash and his mobile phone were stolen.

The 32-year-old taxi driver suffered minor injuries during the incident.

The men are described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in their 20's.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that may assist them with their investigations to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
