Surgical fund boost

ABOUT 700 extra Ipswich residents will receive elective surgery sooner this financial year under the State Government's $90 million Surgery Connect program.

Minister for Health Paul Lucas said the program allowed “long wait” public patients to have their operations in public hospitals or where there was spare surgical capacity in the private system.

“In Ipswich more than 1500 patients have already received their elective surgery in the first three months of 2009,” he said.
