Surf fest to make a splash in Coffs

FRIDAY'S opening ceremony marks another Australian Surf Festival about to start in the wave rich Coffs Harbour region.

National titles will be decided in Open Surf Masters, Longboard, Logger and Bodyboard divisions.

Many of Australia's best surfers are expected to compete alongside reigning Australian Open Longboard Champion and Coffs Harbour local Paul Scholten, who is looking forward to defending his Australian title in his own backyard.

"Winning an Open Australian Title on home turf is one of the most memorable experiences of my life," Scholten said.

"I can't wait for the event to return to the Coffs region and see some of the best surfers from all around Australia try and claim themselves a title."

The Australian Surfmasters Titles starts on Saturday and will run for five days before the other events begin.

The event is fully mobile in the Coffs Harbour region with numerous beach break options which include Park Beach, Macauley's, Diggers, Jetty Beach, Gallows, Arrawarra Mullaway, Woolgoolga, Emerald Beach and Sapphire Beach.
