Still jobs left in Australian capital cities

DARWIN is the place to go for jobseekers with more vacancies than unemployed, according to new private sector research.

Construction and finance are the top hiring sectors in the country with over 130,000 jobs advertised so-far this year.

Brisbane and Sydney joined Darwin as the top three locations for job seekers.

But Darwin and Perth are the choice location for construction workers seeking cash with jobs paying almost 20 per cent more than the national average. The average wage is Darwin is $92,144 compared to a national average of $77,711, the survey said.

But regional cities are doing it tough with Bendigo the hardest city in the country to find work with 32 applicants for every vacancy.
