Stepfather allegedly raped girl, gave her marijuana

A MACKAY miner stands accused of raping, indecently touching and supplying marijuana to his stepdaughter while they were living in Brisbane and Ipswich.

The man, 39, was living in Mackay when he met the girl's mother but the new family moved to Brisbane in 2003 and then Collingwood Park in 2004.

The girl was aged nine to 12 at the time of the alleged offences.

Police will allege that the girl first tried to report a problem to her school teacher in grade five.

The man, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, cannot be named to protect the identity of the child.

Brisbane District Court was closed for much of the day while the victim gave evidence about what her stepfather allegedly did to her.

The trial continues.
