Step up to the new curriculum

THE only dance studio of its kind in Ipswich is being celebrated by the St Mary's College community at an inaugural gala dinner.

As part of a $9 million development project, the new learning spaces and dance studio were created with specialist education architects, and are already in full use by the students.

Acting principal Judy Finan said the college was revamping curriculum and subject offerings and dance was just one of those elements.

"Dance is proven to build confidence and creativity in students and has a positive impact on [students'] overall learning," she said.

"We know our students take this confidence and creativity back into the traditional classroom subjects and use it to achieve success in their learning. It's an invaluable offering for our students."

The College's iconic Mercy House is now complemented by one of the newest and most innovative learning spaces in Ipswich.

The gala dinner will be held on on October 10.

All past students, their families, teachers, parents and friends of the college are invited to attend.

Tickets for the three course dinner cost $80.
