Man injured in boarding house stabbing dies in hospital

UPDATE 9.55AM: A MAN who was injured during an incident in Rockhampton yesterday has died in hospital.

Police were yesterday called to an Alma Street address at around 7am, after a 33-year-old local man allegedly stabbed two men.

The men, aged 32 and 33, received wounds to their chest and abdomen and were transported to Rockhampton Hospital.

The 32-year-old man died last night.

Police took the 33-year-old local man into custody and he was later charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The man is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.

 

EARLIER: ONE man is fighting for his life and another is in a critical condition in Rockhampton Hospital after an alleged stabbing at an Alma Street boarding house yesterday morning.

Police were called to the Ozcare Homeless Hostel for men just before 7am where they found three men with multiple stab wounds.

Witnesses said one of the men had managed to stagger about 50 metres down the road before collapsing from his injuries.

The accused was allegedly still carrying a knife when police arrived, which he surrendered without incident.

Two men with multiple wounds to the abdomen and chest were transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition while the accused man was taken into police custody for questioning.

He was later charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and will appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court this morning.

Detective Sergeant Steve Paskin from Rockhampton CIB said police were still investigating the incident and the nature of the relationship between the three men.
