Spotify lets fans know when they 'found them first'

SPOTIFY has come up with a way to allow insufferable music snobs everywhere to prove that yes, they did indeed listen to that band before they were famous.

'Found Them First' is a service that tells users if they were amongst the first to listen to any artist that has more than 20 million streams on the site.

Spotify says the "top 1-15 per cent of listeners are considered 'early listeners' and will be able to see this ranking".

For others, they are creating a tailored streaming service that might help them to search out the next big thing.

"We love creating fresh ways for people to interact with music," said Spotify's Jackie Jantos.

"This experience is an ode to the fans who truly love discovering new artists. Users are rewarded for listening early on, and earn some bragging rights."
