Three years in the life of the sun

NASA video reveals three years of sun in three minutes

NASA has released incredible time lapse vision that shows three years of the sun's activity where just two video frames represent a day in the life of our closest star.

The video, uploaded to YouTube, has already been viewed by people across the globe almost a million times.

NASA's  Solar Dynamics Observatory, which was launched in 2010 captured the cosmic images.

"SDO is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun and its dynamic behavior," NASA's website said.

"NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory has had virtually unbroken coverage of the sun's rise toward solar maximum, the peak of solar activity in its regular 11-year cycle.

"SDO's Atmospheric Imaging Assembly captures a shot of the sun every 12 seconds in 10 different wavelengths."
