A DISGRUNTLED Max Brenner customer has set off a war of opinions on Facebook.
Customer Sharon Greig and her daughter headed into Toowoomba's brand new Max Brenner outlet to see what all the fuss was about, and after more than half an hour of lining up they put in their order for a serving of strawberries with dipping chocolate.
After discovering the deal was for six strawberries, they decided to double the order and asked for an extra six strawberries at $1.10 a pop.
The original chocolate strawberry dip dish comes in at $9, bringing the total of their sweet snack up to $15.60.
They sat down in sweet anticipation, but were surprised when the order came out.
"Out of 12 strawberries served, five were rotting," she wrote on the Toowoomba Buy, Swap, Sell page.
She said the remaining strawberries were less than impressive as well.
"They were so small and very tough to eat," she wrote.
"The first one I ate was fermenting with a fizz taste.
"I know its only been open two weeks but the quality was disgusting."
The woman complained to the manager and was given a partial refund, but decided to air her grievances on the local buy swap and sell site, with mixed responses.
Many users were quick to jump to the defence of the new chocolate-themed outlet, posting up their own positive experiences and pictures of plump, delicious strawberries they had received with their orders.
Some users said it was only fair to cut the store a little slack while the new staff members found their feet.
Others chimed in with similar experiences.
One hilarious user even took advantage of the post's incredible popularity by adding a sale item she was trying to get rid of into the comment stream.
"Actually trying to sell something here," Illona Benningfield wrote, posting up a picture of a cupboard for sale.
"Since this post keeps getting bumped up the page, thought I'd take advantage!"
A Max Brenner representative was contacted for comment.
