Socceroos squad confirmed for vital World Cup qualifiers
ANGE Postecoglou has confirmed the provisional Socceroos squad tasked with qualifying the team for the 2018 World Cup.
With two do-or-die World Cup qualifiers looming against Japan (away) and Thailand (at AAMI Park), Postecoglou has named 30 players, with the final 23-man squad to be confirmed on on August 23.
Headlining the squad is the return of defender Matthew Spiranovic, who last donned the green and gold in the November qualifying draw in Thailand.
Spiranovic, alongside former Sydney FC defender Matthew Jurman, have bolstered the defensive stocks in place of Dylan McGowan, who earned a call-up for the Confederations Cup.
Roos skipper Mile Jedinak also earns a recall after missing out on the trip to Russia due to a groin injury. Having had surgery during the off-season, Jedinak has missed the start of Aston Villa's campaign.
Meanwhile, fringe players Mustafa Amini, Riley McGree, Awer Mabil and Adam Federici have earned recalls to the provisional squad.
