Prep student takes superboat to school for show and tell

WALKERSTON State School Prep student Jazmin Nelson's class show and tell is going to be a hard one to top by the next student.

Jazmin's dad Brad Nelson, who has worked with a lot of the guys on the offshore powerboat circuit was able to organise a visit to the school by Offshore Superboat Championship team, 222 Offshore.

"Whenever the guys come to North Queensland I give them a hand and fix their boats and store them and help out on race days," he said.

"Jazmin's my little apprentice and loves working on the boats. She helps with fibre glassing and even helps me rebuild the carburettors on the race engines."

The man in charge of logistics for the team, Peter Allan said it was a special thing done just for Jazmin.

"She's such a shy little girl and it was good to be able to brighten her day up a bit," he said.

"Her father and mother, Nikki, are both boat addicted, she's been bred into boats and I'm surprised she doesn't have hulls for feet."

The Crane Logistics Mackay Offshore Superboat Race will be held August 7, with a pole position shootout on August 6.
