Girl, 15, dies after car collides with tree at Ridgewood
UPDATE 12.30PM: A 15-year-old girl has died after the car she and her family were travelling in crashed into a tree at Ridgewood, the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter has reported.
The incident occurred along Cooroy Belli Park Rd about 7.30am on Saturday when the mother, the driver of the vehicle, lost control of the car and veered off the road, down an embankment and colliding with a tree.
A road ambulance crew initially responded to the incident before the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter was tasked, arriving within minutes of departing its Sunshine Coast Airport base.
Its flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedic treated a six-year -old girl for head injuries, before she was airlifted to Nambour General Hospital.
She is in a stable condition.
The 35-year-old mother and two of her children, aged 11 and 13, were taken to Nambour General Hospital by road with minor injuries.
They are also in a stable condition.
The 15-year-old girl, who was a back seat passenger, died at the scene.
The road is expected to be closed for some time, and police are asking motorists to avoid the area if they can.
