Seminar focus on medicine
THE marvels of modern medicine will be examined in the Ipswich Library later this month.
To showcase recent developments in medical engineering, related to ageing, health and wellbeing, a special seminar will be hosted in the Barry Jones Auditorium in the Ipswich Global Information Centre on August 18.
Medical engineering draws together engineers, doctors and medical scientists to find solutions to problems in medicine and the life sciences.
Hip and knee replacements, pacemakers, artificial hearts, medical imaging, life support systems and medical lasers are just a few examples of the results of the work of medical engineers.
Local councillor David Pahlke said the library was hosting this event as part of National Science Week.
Cr Pahlke said the seminar would be presented by researchers Dr Ben Goss and Dr Damien Harkin from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
Bookings are essential and must be made by August 14 by calling the library on 3810 6815.
