Region rallies for rural firies after $15k equipment stolen

THE Cawarral Rural Fire Brigade have thanked the community for their support following a break-in on Tuesday night in which thieves stole vital equipment.

Since news of the break-in spread, the brigade said they had received many offers of equipment.

"We thank everyone, the community spirit is certainly strong in Cawarral and Mount Chalmers," a spokesperson said.

"The brigade is covered by Queensland Rural Fire Service insurance and most items will be replaced if not recovered.

"Unfortunately, this will take some time and we are attending many wildfires a week."

The spokesperson confirmed the list of stolen items was growing and now included a Nokia C5 5MP phone, two helmet torches and two citation medals.
