Raceday focus: Best bets at Pakenham

THE appearance of star Adelaide jockey Jamie Kah, who has five rides for Lindsay Park, highlights the meeting at Pakenham on Thursday night.

Kah has the best winning percentage of any leading city jockey in the land. In the city, she boasts 31 winners this season from 105 rides at a strike rate of 29.5 per cent.

In South Australia, she has won 66 races from 231 rides at a strike rate of 28.6 per cent this season. She won at Flemington on New Year's Day for the David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig stable on Golden Mane, and she should add to that tally on Thursday night.

Her five rides are: LADY DE BATHE (R1, No. 6, $4.60), JOIE DE DREAM (R2, No. 8, $3.20), FIRE AND BRIMSTONE (R3, No. 8, $7.50), REZEALIENT (R4, No. 6, $5) and REGAL EMBRACE (R8, No. 11, $3.90).

BEST BET

INVICTUM DOMINA (R7, No. 1, $3.60)
Classy mare who was a first-up winner at Sandown last campaign. Promising apprentice Lachlan King will claim 1.5kg, taking her weight to 58.5kg.

NEXT BEST

REGAL EMBRACE (R8, No. 11, $3.90)

Showed potential at her last campaign. Jamie Kah should end the night on a winning note.

SPIRIT OF AQUADA (R3, No. 11, $2.10)

Amazingly still a maiden and again finds himself in a race with depth, but from barrier one, he should prove too smart.

THE TRAINER

PAT CAREY

BRALCA'S GEM (R4, No. 9, $4.80)

"Her first-up run was OK. She has talent and she'll appreciate the 1400m on a bigger track."

HAVANA HAYMAKER (R5, No. 10)

"He's got a bad habit of missing the start, which he did last time but still managed to win. It was a strong performance at Cranbourne and he should be suited by 2500m. We've put the barrier blanket on to help him jump."

CAPTAIN RHETT (R6, No. 2)

"He's resuming after a little break. He'll be running on."
