Man dies after two-vehicle crash

A MAN has died after a serious two-vehicle crash at Atherton in the state's far north.

Emergency services were called to the crash about 7pm on Friday after a ute and motorcycle collided on the Kennedy Highway.

The male motorcyclist was rushed to Cairns Base Hospital with serious injuries, but was declared dead on Sunday.

Police have confirmed the driver of the ute was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

Elsewhere, a female moped rider remains fighting for life this morning after being hit by a car south of Brisbane on Monday night.

The 22-year-old Spring Hill woman was travelling right from Junction Terrace in Annerley when it turned into the path of Honda Jazz.

She was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition with suspected spinal injuries.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating.
