Pricing announced for updated Ford Ranger range

FORD's success story Ranger ute is soon to arrive in MkII guise with new style, tech and driver assist goodies.

Prices have just been confirmed for the new PX Ranger MkII - expected in Australian showrooms in the next few months - with the range entry 4x2 XL Single Cab Chassis starting at $27,390 and topping out at $60,090 for a 4x4 Wildtrak Double Cab Pick-up 3.2-litre TDCi auto.

Ford is keen to rub a bit of mud into the tyre treads of Toyota's segment-leading HiLux, pointing out the new Ranger has a higher maximum payload and a suite of safety and driver aids not seen in its chief rival. An all-new HiLux arrives in October however.

For The slightly re-styled Ranger has we have the same 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre TDCi engines across 37 different XL, XL Plus, XLS, XLT and Wildtrak variants: 11 are 4x2s and 26 are 4x4s.Standard kit rises as you move up the variants of course, but spend a bit on options and buyers can enjoy some impressive tech including reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assist.

Carried over from the current Ranger is the electronic 'shift-on-the-fly' four-wheel drive system for 4x4 models, electronic locking rear diff, hill descent control, 3500kg towing capacity and a wade depth of up to 800mm.

Minor exterior and interior refreshes also arrive as the Ranger hopes to keep buyers interested in the face of its key ute rivals introducing brand new models this year.
