President's Cup: USA takes early advantage

The USA is turning the screws early on the internationals leading three of the five opening day foursome matches on the front nine of the 11th President's Cup being played Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, Incheon City, South Korea.

The International pairing of South African team-mates Brendan Grace and Louis Oosthuizen were tied with Americans Matt Kucher and Pat Reed through the first six holes while the shot of the day from Sunshine Coast professional Steven Bowditch for partner Jason Day to birdie the fourth squared their clash against the polished pairing of Phil Mikelson and Zach Johnson.

In the other foursomes Bubba Watson and JB Holmes were two up on International Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama through seven holes.

History shows the team which leads after the Foursomes has won eight of the 10 previous Presidents Cups.

It's the first time the President's Cup has been played in Asia.

Four Australians are in the 12-man International side captained by South African Nick Price.
