Popular muso has got serious talent
OWEN Campbell certainly doesn't deny the boost that his career received as a result of a controversial appearance on Australia's Got Talent.
It's true that since earning the ire of the judging panel on the talent quest reality show last year, Campbell's popularity has skyrocketed.
He wasted no time in getting his slide guitar show out into the public eye, releasing debut album, Sunshine Road, which reached number one in the Australian iTunes Blues Charts.
Campbell's second album, The Pilgrim, is set for release on June 7.
Ipswich fans of the Sydney singer-songwriter will be pleased to hear that he will be returning to Goodna's Royal Mail Hotel to promote the new album.
Campbell last played at the Royal Mail about two years ago.
"It's a cracking little venue," Campbell said.
"The publican there is a great supporter of original music and it is great to be going back."
It was his infamous audition on Australia's Got Talent that really kicked things along for the talented guitar player, however.
Despite bringing the audience to a standing ovation, a humiliated Campbell found himself on the wrong side of some spiteful judges.
Ironically, the episode earned the emerging muso a bit of cult status, with the YouTube clip attracting more than five million views.
Campbell will perform at the Royal Mail Hotel, Goodna on Saturday, June 8. Book now.
