TWO people have been found dead inside a house at a small town southwest of Cairns.

Police were called to a residence in Mt Garnet, which is around 165km from Cairns, about 9.20am this morning.

The bodies of a 55-year-old man and 49-year-old woman have been found at the scene which is believed to be a residential property on Topaz St.

Both were declared deceased at the scene.

Police have not detailed what has allegedly occurred but it is understood they are not looking for anyone else.
