THE Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a traffic controller was hit by a car and killed yesterday at Redbank Plains.

The 50-year-old worker was struck by a vehicle just before 10am while he was performing traffic control duty on Redbank Plains Rd.

The man from Wakerley was pronounced dead at the scene, where his co-workers were in shock yesterday.

Police said the female driver, a woman in her 60s, was not injured during the collision.

Senior Sergeant Brett Wendt said the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash were the subject of an investigation and several witnesses were assisting police.

"At this stage we have some people who are assisting with inquiries into the incident but as you can understand it's a tragedy for the workers and for the people surrounding this gentleman," he said.
