19-year-old allegedly rammed police car with stolen vehicle

A GOODNA teen has been charged in connection to an incident where a police car was damaged by another vehicle.

It was alleged the 19-year-old man initially evaded police on the Warrego Highway near Karalee about 9pm on Thursday, after officers tried to stop his vehicle for traffic matters.

Police did not pursue the vehicle, which they had learnt was stolen, but located it a short time later on Riverview Rd, Riverview.

The vehicle then attempted to evade police again, but when police tried to pull it over at Price St, Riverview, the vehicle allegedly drove at and hit the stationary police vehicle.

Police reported that the stolen vehicle then travelled a short distance on Hayden St where it came to a stop and the driver fled the vehicle.

The alleged driver was found and taken into custody with the assistance of dog squad and Polair.

No one was injured in the incident.

The teenager has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 2.
