Plucky teenager ready to go if he gets Roosters’ call

UTILITY half Jackson Hastings is preparing himself for any scenario which arises when the Roosters put their premiership claims on the line against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

The teenager has done a great job filling in for injured No.7 Mitchell Pearce, who has already had two false starts against the Storm and Bulldogs in his bid to return from a hamstring injury suffered in round 24.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson has flagged Pearce's return for the preliminary final blockbuster after the New South Wales representative ran freely at training yesterday. But Hastings, set to be named on the bench today, said he would be ready if called on again.

Meanwhile, Storm winger Marika Koroibete hasn't given up hope of playing in Saturday's knockout final against the Cowboys in Melbourne, despite not being able to run since having his Achilles sliced open in the qualifying final.

"I told the physio at halftime my leg was sore and when he opened up my boot, we saw all this blood and the cut (across the Achilles)," said the Fijian flash who has had plastic surgery on the deep cut. "I can walk properly now and do some hopping, so hopefully I can do some training tomorrow ... but we'll see."

No charges were laid by the Match Review Committee from the weekend's games against any players involved in the preliminary finals.
