Plea for increased GP training
AT THE start of GP Week on Monday, the Australian Medical Association (AMAQ) called for more general practitioner training places.
The association said an extra 100 trainees were needed each year. AMAQ president Dr Mason Stevenson told the ABC that ratios were one GP for between 1500 and 1600 people in the Ipswich-Toowoomba area.
“We should not go above the figure of about one GP to 1000,” he said.
