Plan to shape region's future
RARELY would the average Ipswich resident delve deeply into the intricacies of the State Government's South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program (SEQIPP).
But the implications of that current plan for Ipswich and its surrounding regions are significant.
The western corridor will benefit from an estimated investment of $18.4 billion in projects, the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Stirling Hinchliffe announced last week.
Those billions will be spent in Ipswich, the Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley Council and the Somerset Regional Council area.
Projects that are creating jobs and business opportunities include the Wacol Police Academy, Gatton-Esk Road upgrade, Toowoomba Pipeline (Wivenhoe to Cressbrook), Ipswich Hospital upgrade and emergency department upgrades.
