Petrie sure he will make AFL preliminary final

KANGAROOS forward Drew Petrie says he is confident his injured knee won't stop him lining up against West Coast in Saturday night's preliminary final in Perth.

The 32-year-old hurt the knee in the first quarter of the semi-final against Sydney and copped a couple of knocks to the same spot during the match.

He had a precautionary scan yesterday but said he didn't think it was anything more than a cork.

"The docs and physios tested me last night - there's no structural damage, there's just maybe a bit of bruising," Petrie (pictured) told Channel Seven.

North Melbourne's other main injury concern was key defender Robbie Tarrant who was a last-minute withdrawal against the Swans after tweaking his groin in the warm-up.

Teammate Brent Harvey also told Seven the decision to leave Tarrant out had been a precaution and the backman could probably have played if really needed.
