A MAN has died overnight after he was critically injured from being hit by a car on a quiet Nerang Street.

The pedestrian, 42 died at the scene of the accident, which occurred at the intersection of Weedona's Rd and Crusader Way, Nerang, about 8.20pm

Police said the driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene.

Paramedics treated the pedestrian at the scene without success.

The police forensic crash unit is now investigating.

The incident is the second serious accident this week involving a pedestrian.

A 78-year-old man died in hospital on Sunday after he was hit by a car travelling at low speed while he was crossing Old Burleigh Rd in Broadbeach.
