Paul Pisasale: Police reveal case against former mayor

PAUL Pisasale bragged that he knew Immigration Minister Peter Dutton and could have a New South Wales taxi driver deported if he didn't hand over thousands of dollars, police will allege.

The Courier-Mail understands that authorities will claim the then-Ipswich mayor posed as a private investigator in January, boasting about his political connections while trying to wring more than $15,000 from the driver, a Chinese national.

The money Mr Pisasale allegedly demanded was to be paid to a woman who had been in a relationship with the driver but later found out he was married.

It's believed police will allege Mr Pisasale told the driver the debt was to cover his services as a private investigator on behalf of the woman to find out why the relationship soured.
