UPDATE 1PM: POLICE are performing ongoing patrols of Redbank Plains State High School following an alleged assault this morning.
A 15-year-old student was left bleeding from the mouth after being struck to the face about 8.55am.
The student has been taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
Police are conducting ongoing patrols of the school today, as it emerged that it had been the scene of several brawls recently.
Police are still investigating this morning's incident and no further action has been taken at this stage.
UPDATE 11AM: A TEENAGER has been taken to hospital following an assault at an Ipswich school this morning.
Police say the 15-year-old was left bleeding from the mouth after being punched in the face at Redbank Plains State High School about 8.50am.
Paramedics attended and treated the teen before taking them to Ipswich Hospital.
A suspect has been nominated but no further action has been taken at this time.
Police are on scene and are conducting further inquiries.

EARLIER: PARAMEDICS have been called following reports of an assault at a major Ipswich school.
Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed that a call was received for an address on Willow Rd, Redbank Plains, about 8.50am.
Police are also on scene at the assault at Redbank Plains State High School, in which a 15-year-old was allegedly struck to the head.
Officers are conducting inquiries.
No details of the patient's injuries were provided.
The incident follows revelations during a Queensland budget estimates hearing this week that more than 1500 students have been suspended or expelled for assaulting state school teachers in the past 15 months.
Last year, 150 parents were banned from school grounds over violence or threats against teachers, while 174 teachers received workers compensation after being assaulted by students.
