OSCAR Pistorius will have the appeal against his culpable homicide conviction heard in November.

The Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, South Africa, confirmed the date earlier this week.

The State has argued the court incorrectly acquitted the athlete of murder.  Its legal arguments were heard last month.

The Olympic athlete is serving a five year sentence for shooting and killing his model girlfiend, Reeva Steenkamp, at his luxury gated home on Valentine's Day 2013.

He had hoped to be released from jail to house arrest in August, but this request was denied.

Another decision to grant Pistorius parole is expected to be considered at a review board next week.

South African media have reported Pistorius's legal team will file a response to the State's appeal within days.
