Officer seriously assaulted during arrest in Bracken Ridge

A POLICE officer has been seriously assaulted while attempting to arrest a man at Bracken Ridge overnight.

At around 1.50am, police were called to a residence on Lavaine Street following reports that a man was creating a disturbance at the address.

It will be alleged that when officers tried to arrest the man involved he resisted and became violent.

Police will further allege that the man bit a male police officer on the arm before spitting on him.

The male officer suffered lacerations and bruising as a result of the incident.

A 30-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with one count each of serious assault police, assault police and obstruct police.  He is expected to appear at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court this morning.
